Stretching between Disco, House and Techno, Mari to the Future has always kept a clear focus on warm crackling Disco, groovy 90s House, deep vocals and experimental Techno with lots of room for emotion and movement. Her sound is catchy, yet still underground with a stellar selection of all kinds of all genres. Being based in Japan for years, Mari has highly been influenced by the underground scene of Tokyo and other places in Asia. As one of the few DJ female foreigners in Tokyo, Mari has achieved a residency at the underground music lover place Aoyama Tunnel and the iconic DJ Bar Bridge Shibuya. She has been playing in almost every venue of Tokyo's underground scene including Mitsuki, Circus Tokyo, Redbar/Tunnel, Bonobo, Aoyama Zero, Tengushokudo, The Room, OATH, DJ Bar Bridge Shinjuku & Shibuya and many more! Sitting somewhere between Detroit, Chicago and Tokyo in sound, her DJ sets are an assured, kinetic combination of deep pulsing dance house, rare disco, warm mysterious techno, broken beats and abstract compositions. It is clear that Mari is a house dancer, which has provided her with a unique understanding of the crowd and music. With broad love for music and open eyes on the global scene, she delivers stunning peak-time performances as well as twisted after-hour tales and funky warm-up sets. She captivates with her instinct, and versatile sound as she dazzles clubs around.
