Born from the vibrant electronic landscape of Marseille, Moteka is a French techno producer. While his musical origins date back to a decade of collaboration with Rémy Maurin under the alias Principles of Flight and other joint projects, blending psytrance rhythms with cinematic aesthetics, his shift to the Moteka moniker in 2013 marked a distinct evolution. Leaving behind the surreal melodies of his past, he embraced a darker, more minimalist route, drawing profound inspiration from the industrial textures of English legends like Surgeon and Planetary Assault Systems. Over the last thirteen years, Moteka has transcended the role of a studio producer to become a premier live performance artist. Distinguishing himself from the standard DJ format, he has built a formidable reputation across France and Europe for his complex, improvisational Live PAs. His sets are a high-wire act of real-time creation, where he combines the raw, physical power of analog machinery with the precision of modern software. This hybrid approach allows him to deconstruct and rebuild his tracks on the fly, crafting immersive, hypnotic journeys that ensure no two performances are ever the same. This mastery of the live arena has made him a staple in the European techno circuit. From the warehouse raves of Paris and the underground bunkers of Berlin to clubs in London and Amsterdam, Moteka delivers a sound that is "dark, raw," and meticulously produced. Yet, despite his international touring schedule, he remains deeply rooted in his hometown of Marseille. Since 2018, he has served as a resident artist with the renowned French-Moroccan collective Paradox, contributing significantly to the cultural fabric of the local scene. His prolific studio output serves as the fuel for these live performances. Moteka originally found his home on the renowned French label Skryptöm and the London-based Children of Tomorrow, releasing pivotal EPs like Xyceon (2015) and Daneel Olivaw (2019). His discography reached new heights with his inaugural album, As We Fought Iron Giants (2019). He further solidified his heavy-hitting status by joining the live techno quartet Möd3rn (alongside Maxime Dangles, Electric Rescue, and Kmyle), culminating in their ambitious collaborative album Decode/Process/Inform/Decide in 2022. Now well into his second decade under the alias, Moteka continues to push the boundaries of his sound. Following his 2022 collaborative album Permutation Paradox with Canadian artist TRUANT.J, he returned to the forefront of Skryptöm with contributions to the Groove09 (2023) and Exploration07 (2024) projects. In 2025, he expanded his sonic footprint with the release of No Borders on Sotor Records. This momentum carried into 2026 with the release of Similar Sundays on the legendary R&S Records, a testament to a production style that continues to evolve. Today, Moteka stands as a pillar of the French techno scene, an artist who bridges the gap between the underground energy of Marseille and the major stages of Europe, dedicated to the art of the live performance.
