Party Smith’s background reflects the vibrant eclecticism found in record shops, a path ignited in 1998, when she worked in three Lisbon record shops until the early 00s. Selling music to the Portuguese DJ community, she naturally became one herself. Starting out in chill-out rooms, the interdisciplinary artist soon adapted her beats to keep pace with Lisbon’s vibrant late 90s techno scene. Shortly after, in 2003, she began a decade-long stint in London, spinning records and organizing events in some of the city’s darkest corners. Well know for her marathon all nighters, her sets are a psychedelic journey through styles. Eclectic and uncompromising, extremely tasteful and just right for wherever they are heard. Whether a tripped-out pool party in Sri Lanka to a dark basement in Lisbon, Party Smith keeps the father of the bride, the tecknival freak and the jazz trumpeter alike content in the dance. Founding member of the collectives Soniculture in Portugal and Vortex in Goa. Resident DJ at dARC - Desterro in Lisbon and at Vortex, Goa She has played alongside names like Monolake, Miss Kittin, Michael Mayer and Jerome Hill, and at big international events such as Festival Forte, Boom Festival, Glade and Sonica.
