Copenhagen’s pai-lin bares the signature of one attuned with and guided by a relationship with their surroundings, be they past, present, or future. Following a recent change in moniker - an inflection point of sorts for new sonic developments - ‘pai-lin’ is the culmination of years of such attunement. Whether melding new-age illbient with austere minimal and hypnotic rollers, or matching dub-laced downtempo against grittier progressive currents, her palette traverses a spectrum of energies and influences. Whilst much is drawn from that present, residual traces of former outings are still to be found in echoes of dream-pop and a penchant for memory-laced lo-fi sentiments. For hers is a hypnotists touch: moody and pensive at times, summoning melancholic spectres of dub, ambient, and psy in reflective releases; whilst at others holding a grittier logic, as the the driven pacing of new-age progressive and minimal is punctuated with experimental brain-dance flickers. All of this, deftly woven into logically progressing hallucitory zones. Personally adopting and affectively pushing forth the greater aspects of contemporary electronic music, that which is always thinking, always moving, always forward.
